Fundamental Principle of the University of Osaka Dental Hospital
Contribute to the advancement of oral healthcare through the promotion of education and research in oral medicine via medical treatment.
Based on our fundamental principle, our hospital formulated and implemented action goals and plans in response to the following three missions and roles as a university hospital:
- Providing specialized oral healthcare as a core hospital in the region (medical care provision function)
- Nurturing dental professionals who will contribute to oral healthcare in the future (education and training function)
- Promoting the development of clinical medicine and contributing to the improvement of the medical technology standard (research and development function)
Education:
To nurture highly skilled dental professionals with a research mindset and future leaders in the field of oral healthcare, we shall aim to verify and improve the clinical training system for dentists. We shall also focus on training specialists and actively involved in providing continuing education opportunities.
Research:
We shall further promote clinical and translational research and utilize its outcomes for the development of innovative oral healthcare. Specifically, we shall aim to advance clinical research in regenerative and reconstructive therapies for periodontal tissues and craniofacial structures, as well as explore the application of artificial intelligence in dental clinics.
Social Contribution (Industry-University Collaboration, Community-University Collaboration, Medical Care, etc.):
Leveraging the characteristics and functions of our hospital as a specialized hospital for the treatment of oral diseases and functional abnormalities, we shall serve as a core dental hospital in western Japan. We shall further enhance advanced dental care for patients with cleft lip and palate, including pediatric care, acute-phase care, cancer treatment, regenerative medicine, and meet the societal demands accordingly.
Globalization:
With the Center for Global Oral Health at the forefront, we shall establish a reception system for foreign patients and promote interactive exchange of dental professionals with overseas medical institutions to facilitate training and education in dentistry.
Business Operations:
We shall conduct interviews with the director for each department to analyze the current situation, identify issues, consider possible solutions, and set operational targets. Through such regular monitoring, we shall maintain a stable management state. To enhance the quality and safety of medical care, we shall improve initiatives, systems, and education related to medical safety, infection control, and other aspects.
